College History Level Essay Sample
College History Level Essay SampleA few years ago, I came across a college history level essay sample that struck me. It had a simple introduction that quickly discussed some of the most important topics related to the topic. The conclusion was the highlight of the paper. The interesting thing about this introduction is that it was very short. For someone with a college education, that's kind of a downer. In the past, a lot of college students struggled with writing introductory papers and reports because they didn't want to bore their teachers. Nowadays, those students are having second thoughts and may want to rewrite the introduction and conclusion instead. The paper then moved on to discuss three main ideas: history, theories, and facts. Unfortunately, the summaries of those two elements were not as clear as I would have liked. The author felt it was necessary to mention the 'effects' of an event without mentioning the 'causes.' The explanation was confusing and I felt I needed mor e information on the concepts he was describing. My question at the time was how could a teacher review a paper without seeing the summary statement? I mean, if you review, what are you reviewing? Now, if you don't see the summary statement, you're wasting your time.My final problem was that the conclusion was lacking. The summary statement did nothing to solve my main concern: the reasons behind the recent political unrest in Egypt. I needed to be sure that my opinion was completely clear so I had to make sure that I understood the reasoning behind my opinion. After doing a bit of research on the subject, I learned that Egypt has never really been that politically active and that there is very little new in terms of government reform. So, if anything, the news of unrest caused by the Egyptians' dissatisfaction with their political system created a perfect storm for them to overthrow the current Egyptian government. When reading the article, I was surprised to learn that the author wor ked in the military for over thirty years. While his opinions on the report were quite insightful, I felt like the arguments were not as well-rounded as I would have liked. Some of the explanations weren't true or came across as a bit polemic.Overall, I think this college history level essay sample did a decent job of teaching its readers about the different aspects of the United States and the historical issues that have shaped that country. However, I think if I had only looked up what the author was actually saying, I would have done a better job and definitely have enjoyed my experience.
